Date: 14 July 2026
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Number of Attendees: 40

The session began with approximately 10 minutes of one-to-one interactions with the
residents. These conversations helped build rapport, encouraged participation and allowed
everyone to feel comfortable before the activity commenced.
Each participant was then provided with a 10" × 10" square sheet of coloured craft paper.
The process of folding the paper was demonstrated step by step. While some residents
initially found the task challenging due to limited motor skills, their determination and
perseverance were truly inspiring. With gentle encouragement and assistance, most were
able to complete the folds successfully.
The next stage involved using scissors to create decorative patterns. After a live
demonstration, the participants enthusiastically attempted the task.

The highlight of the session came when the folded papers were carefully unfolded to reveal
beautiful, intricate doily designs. The expressions of surprise, delight and pride on the
residents' faces were heartwarming. Several eagerly showed their colourful creations to
fellow residents, the social worker Sonaria and the facilitators. The activity generated
enthusiastic participation, fostered creativity and provided an enjoyable opportunity to
enhance fine motor coordination while encouraging social interaction.
