We conducted a Serenading session at St John of God on 13th April 2025 at 5.00 pm. There were 26 inmates present. The aim was to bring joy and companionship to the residents through music and shared moments.
We (my husband Ressano on the guitar, our daughter Raziela on the ukelele and myself on the violin) performed a selection of Portuguese and Konkani songs, which many of the residents enjoyed listening to. One elderly resident Ms. Fatima Desa fluent in Portuguese, delighted us all by singing along to some of the tunes, creating a beautiful moment of connection and shared nostalgia.
Following the musical session, cake and biscuits were distributed among the residents and staff as it was my daughters birthday, adding a sweet touch to the evening. The smiles, claps, and heartfelt interactions made the day truly special.
The activity reinforced the power of music in bridging generations and lifting spirits, and we are grateful for the opportunity to have shared in such meaningful moments with the residents
