Visited St john of god on 3rd September for consultation & again on 6th September to deliver the medicines. Each time I go there I realise how meaningful this work is to me. I always receive a warm welcome from my patients which really touches my heart.
This time i meet 3 new patients, along with the usual ones I see regularly. Listening to their health issues but more importantly, understanding their emotional state helps me connect with them even better individually . It is really humbling to realize how much a kind word, a little time, and genuine care can mean to them.
The sisters were equally enthusiastic. Two new sisters who I haven’t met before Sr.Annie & Sr.Soraya came to meet me during this visit. They were clearly very happy with what “We care” has been doing & talking about it enthusiastically which was truly encouraging.
After two hours of consultations, as I was preparing to leave, Sister Celsa invited me to join them for lunch. Thé other sisters also insisted, so I agreed. What followed was an unforgettable experience ..sharing a meal with the inmates. The joy on their faces when they saw me dining with them was priceless. Many of my patients told me how happy it made them feel that I was sitting with them n having lunch.
Every visit leaves me with a profound sense of satisfaction, though I sometimes feel guilty for not being able to be more regular.
