Session: Meditation and fitness

Yesterday’s session at St. John of God was very fulfilling, as it was good to have a good no. Of the residents come and take part in the session.
I arrived before 9am and and got some help to move the chairs and benches to a position where it would make all the inmates comfortable to move their arms and legs…by the time everyone came, with Sr s and other inmates helping to get everyone.
Also , it was really thoughtful of Sr. Selsa to put a blackboard in the hall with the dates for the whole month’s sessions.
There were around 25 of them, from 18 of them, some could manage to do almost all the exercises , while a few others needed to sit and do it due to their health issues, and it was quite overwhelming to see that even a few of them on the wheelchair’s also participated whenever they felt able.
I began with meditation and breathing exercises followed by the complete body routine, beginning from the head, and right upto their toes.
I was explaining to them that they need to massage their feet whenever possible atleast once a day, for good blood circulation and ankle joints and for some of them who couldn’t do it, i personally went upto each of them and massaged their toes and feet and ankles.
Before leaving i reminded them to try to do atleast 5 exercises each morning,cand was very happy to hear that one of the nuns has started doing morning exercises with them..so that’s definitely healthy news for St. John of God.
