On 26 th June, 2025 my Neighbor Ophelia and I visited the St. John of the cross old
aged home. The women were happy to see us.
The afternoon program began with the rendition of the Konkani Hymn’Argam
Tuka Somia’ it was sung with gusto and waving hands. After the hymn one lady
volunteered to say a short spontaneous prayer, it was a beautiful thanksgiving
prayer.
Then the ladies were asked to say what they were grateful for. This thought
provoking question made them reflect on the simple yet extraordinary blessings
in their life.
Since Sao Joao was just celebrated I had taken a Kopel so played a Sao Joao
Konkani song and put the Kopel on each of the lady’s head and they had to
dance a little……during this time the ladies were also asked to talk about their
favourite Sao Joao celebration memory.
All of us thoroughly enjoyed the hour and the visit ended with singing happy
birthday to one of the ladies who was celebrating her birthday the next day.
